Not removing odours and smells

Clean the grease filters

Grease filters are fitted to the hood to trap grease and deposits, they need regular cleaning. These are fitted in the hood visor and are either soft fabric filters that may be washed or replaced. New ones can be purchased from the spares section of our website. Some Baumatic hoods have a metal grease filter fitted, these may be removed and washed in hot soapy water. Keeping these filters clean will make your hood work effectively at removing cooking smells from your kitchen.

Replace the charcoal filters

If you have installed your Baumatic hood to recirculate the air back into your kitchen, your installer would have fitted charcoal filters. Charcoal is really good at absorbing kitchen odours but they will eventually need to be replaced. Fitting new filters will improve the efficiency of your hood and freshen up the recirculated air. Simply take out the grease filters to get access to the charcoal filter. New filters can be purchased from the spares section of our website.

Has your hood been installed for air recirculation?

To get the best results from your Baumatic hood it should be installed to extract cooking odours and vent them outside the property through a pipe known as 'ducting'. If it is not possible to duct air outside you can simply re cycle the air back into the kitchen and use charcoal filters to purify the air. These filters are an optional extra, if your installer has fitted the hood without an outside vent then it is important that the charcoal filters are fitted. If they are not fitted, then the air returning to the kitchen will be un purified and may smell of cooking odours. If this is the case and you require charcoal filters these may be purchased from the spares section of our website.
